About the Author
I am not an expert on financial matters, but I have picked up a lot of knowledge through my daily readings. Mission Statement
I want to make it easy for anyone to understand what is happening in our economy. I truly believe millions of people would enjoy following economics and finance if they just understood it.
It seems obvious that people should want to understand the state of our economy. After all, it only affects every single one of us, rich or poor. Fluctuations in the economy have made so many dreams come true while shattering countless others. Why then are so many left in the dark when it comes to economics and finance and only know whether “the market” was up or down that day or that “unemployment is really high” these days? I believe that all the really good information presented on the economy is too hard to follow for the everyday person. Just to understand a report, you have to know countless terms, concepts, etc. Now imagine trying to put all that into a cohesive view of what is happening in our financial world … you can’t. People are discouraged from even getting started, because nobody wants to learn the theory behind economics before reading the news.
Ever since the financial crisis began in 2008, I have been watching the economy more closely than at any time in my life, looking for any signal of an impending turnaround. During that time, I have really enjoyed learning more about what makes the economy tick, the numbers behind all of it and how to make some sense of the gazillion different indicators that are available to the public. My goal for this site is simply to share with you what I know and what I see, as I see it, in a way that anyone can understand. It will often be too simple for many, but my goal is that everyone understands enough to make sense of most anything they read, on this site or anywhere else.
I will need help from my readers, though, in continuing to fine tune the way I write. Please write your comments, send me notes and respond to surveys so that I get a good understanding of who you are and what you need to know. Only then will this site be useful.
